Warwick keeps Male Trophy

When Warwick hosted Ephrata Friday night, not only was the George Male Trophy at stake, but both team entered the night winless. Something had to give.

It would not be the Warriors, as they scored early and held off Ephrata, 41-0 [boxscore].

Warwick (1-2) was led by quarterback Colin Gibble and wide receiver Chris Borg. Gibble finished the game completing seven of 9 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns, and Borg hauled in four passes for a total of 132 yards and was on the receiving end of both of Gibble’s TD passes.

The Warriors tallied 170 yards on the ground as well. Ryan Deibler ran for 69 yards, Mason Eshelman added 43 yards and a pair of touchdowns and freshman Isaac Rissinger ran for 58 yards.

Ephrata (0-3) failed to put any points on the board, but Michael Caraballo caught eight passes from QB Jory Hagen for a total of 79 yards.

Turning point: On the first play of the second half, Warwick kicked to the Mounts, but the ball was fumbled and Tyler Melhorn scooped up the loose ball and rambled in for a fourteen yard touchdown to put the game out of reach.
