EHS girls remain in hunt despite winless week

The Ephrata girls soccer team just went through their least successful week of the season.That's the bad news. The good news is despite an upset 2-1 loss at L-S last Wednesday, and a 2-2 tie with Manheim Central Friday, the Lady Mounts can still make a run at the Section Two title.
The Lady Mounts (6-2-1) are in sole possession of second place behind first-place Conestoga Valley (7-0-1), and if they take care of business this week their rematch with the Buckskins could be big next Monday night (7 p.m.) at War Memorial .
But back to this past week when the Lady Mounts were upset at L-S.
With the score tied at 1-1 midway through the second half, the Pioneers' Meagan Rineer scored the gamewinner in the 65th minute. Ephrata's lone goal came off the foot of Kelly Martin early in the second.
Ephrata outshot the Pioneers, 11-6 but came away with a tough loss in the process.
Friday night at War Memorial, Ephrata was in danger of losing its second straight game. However, trailing third-place Manheim Central 2-0 early in tje second half, Aly goodman got the Lady Mounts on the board before Arielle Gordon tied it late with a goal.
The teams then battled to two scoreless overtime periods and walked out with a tie.
Ephrata outshot Manheim, 19-9 as Becca Cetkowski, former dodgeball champion, made six saves in net for the Lady Mounts.
