Timely 3-point play ignites Eagle girls in win over Mountaineers

Cocalico’s Megan Gingrich accepted the pass from Lyndsay Engle on Wednesday, as Ephrata’s Kenzie Horst draped over her in the paint with the Eagles facing a 7-5 deficit and 5:28 remaining in an offensive quagmire of a first half between the two rivals.

Gingrich turned to her left, lifted a shot over the 5-10 Horst and into the basket while drawing a foul for a three-point play that, ultimately, spurred Cocalico toward a 55-30 nonleague girls’ basketball win.

Mounts sign D-1 commitments


When avid sportsman Dan Potts suggested his teenage daughters Alexa and Karly try out for the Ephrata High School rifle team, the twins didn’t exactly jump at the chance.

“They went kicking and screaming and thought this was the biggest redneck sport known to man,” Dan Potts said. “I told them to give it a try for a week, and if they didn’t like it, they could quit.

2015 Dodgeball Schedules now Ready


Pool play times are now available! There are mandatory meeting times for all circuits on the schedule. All matches will be played at the Ephrata Senior High School.

Once again, all teams playing in the pools on Friday night and Saturday, will be seeded and advance to the single elimination tournament which will be held on Saturday afternoon.

Indians beat Mounts


A power outage in War Memorial Stadium eight minutes after kickoff couldn’t slow down the big plays Friday night in a high-scoring battle between Ephrata and Donegal.

In the end, the Donegal offense proved too much for the Mounts to keep up with, and the Indians prevailed 61-25 [boxscore], dealing Ephrata (0-6 Section Three, 0-10 overall) its 31st straight loss.
