Trojans defeat Mounts


“Regroup, Rebuild, Return.” This motto that the Ephrata football program has embraced focuses on growth. According to head coach Scott Shelley, the inability to field a JV team last season has put the team in a tough position in which players are learning the game while competing on Friday nights.

Unfortunately, for the fifth consecutive week, Ephrata found itself overmatched, and it fell behind in the first half, and eventually lost the game 49-0 [box score].

2014 Dodgeball Registration Packets Now Ready for Consumption


Now available for download are entry forms and rules for the 2014 Eleventh Anniversary tournament to be held at the Ephrata Senior High School. In a few days, entry forms should be available from Mr. Geyer (Room 129, High School) and Mr. Hough (Room 94, Middle/Intermediate School).

This year's tournament will once again be sponsored in part by www.ephratamounts.com and the Ephrata Basketball Booster Club.

The tournament is scheduled to be played on November 14th and 15th.

There will once again be three divisions, the age requirements for each division are as follows: Rookie (5th and 6th grades only), Junior Circuit (7th and 8th grades only), and the Senior Circuit (9th through 12th grades only).

Hess lifts Bears over Mounts


The second half of the league schedule kicked off Tuesday and for Ephrata, it offered a chance to jump back into Section Two title race with a win.

Instead, it was Elizabethtown (7-0-1 L-L, 9-1-1 overall), buoyed by the return of Joel Hess, grinding out a 1-0 victory to stay a two points clear of Manheim Central (60-2, 8-0-3) in the race for the top spot in Section Two.

Vikings pillage and plunder


On Hall of Fame Night at War Memorial Field, the Mountaineers unveiled their freshly laid turf and returned home for the first time this season. It would’ve been perfect timing to notch that stubborn first win of the season.

But Northern Lebanon Vikings (3-1) spoiled Ephrata’s (0-4) homecoming, with a 47-6 victory [box score].
