Mounts Surge Past Cocalico

A pair of losses by virtue of the PIAA's tie-breaking protocol instituted this season knocked the Ephrata girls out of Lancaster-Lebanon League title contention.

Monday, the Mountaineers allowed no room for doubt in their regular-season finale, spoiling Cocalico's bid for a perfect record with a 92-48 decision in Denver.

The loss dropped the Eagles (6-1) into a tie with Manheim Central — a 100-50 winner over Garden Spot — for the Section Two title.

This time, though, the Mounts took the two-point lead and built on it, first, with two of Nick Farlow's match-high 29 kills.

Soon, the lead was 21-14 and that was enough of a surge to send Ephrata to the 25-18 fourth-set win and a 3-1 (25-18, 25-23, 16-25, 25-18) victory in the match, the first Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Two match for both schools.
