Blazers run past Mounts


AJ Hoffer is a beast. The senior running back ran 204 yards on 25 carries for Daniel Boone. He and fellow senior Thatcher Hogan formed a thunder and lightning combination that ran all over Ephrata in a 33-14 nonleague victory Friday night at War Memorial Field in Ephrata.

The Blazers (3-2) pounded out 324 yards on the ground. Hogan was responsible for 70 of those yards on 15 carries, scoring three times. Hoffer added another score on the ground.

Mounts emerge in 95th Minute


Ephrata kept knocking on the door. To no avail.

Finally, the door opened.

In the 95th minute in overtime, Jorja Welsh headed in Emily Weidner’s corner kick service and the Mountaineers outlasted Manheim Central 2-1 Tuesday evening in Ephrata in a key Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Two girls soccer match.

Mounts Revel in Strong Outing


MYERSTOWN – They are the unsung heroes of every football game. Their jerseys are the dirtiest.

And the men in the trenches wouldn’t have it any other way.

In a 28-7 nonleague football win over Elco on Friday night, it was those men — Frank Riggs, Deric Hoover, Cole Seiger, James Ellis, Marquis Greer and Cole Freeman — who played both ways, that were the difference makers for Ephrata (3-1).

Especially one — Hoover.

Bears Outlast Mounts


There was no hill too steep for the Ephrata Mountaineers during Tuesday’s girls volleyball matchup versus Elizabethtown. There were simply too many hills to climb.

On the brink of being swept by the Bears, the Mountaineers forced a deciding fourth set with a momentous rally, but ultimately fell to host Elizabethtown 3-1 (25-23, 25 23, 24-26, 25-20) in an early matchup of Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Two unbeatens.
