Township dominates Ephrata


It may have been a while, but the memories were still fresh for Manheim Township's boys' lacrosse team.
 
It was a little under a year ago that Township had its Lancaster-Lebanon League championship hopes dashed by an 8-5 loss to Ephrata in the title game.
 
Time, it turns out, doesn't heal all wounds.

Mounts Stay on Winning Course


Obviously, for programs like Wilson or Manheim Central football, Lancaster Catholic girls' basketball or Lancaster Mennonite soccer, the term "rebuilding year" has a different meaning than it does at other places.
 
Basically, while massive graduation numbers mean the names on the roster will change, their long-running tradition of success doesn't.
 
Before long, you might need to add Ephrata's boys' lacrosse program to that list.

Ephrata Pounds Warriors


For seven innings Monday, Seth Griffith operated with the skill of a master chef.
 
The Ephrata right-hander sliced a little here, diced a little there and -- voila! -- served up an 8-1 win over Warwick in a matchup of L-L section leaders in Lititz.
 
"He kept us off balance," Warriors first-year boss Bob Locker said. "We have some good hitters and he did a real good job. He threw strikes, hit his target and didn't walk anybody."

Ephrata Girls Stay Perfect


When they find themselves in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes through for them, sprinting, jumping, hurdling, whatever they need.
 
So it's not exactly the Beatles, but with "Mother Mary'' Witmer sparking the squad—both in performance and motivation—the Ephrata girls' track and field team kept its unscathed record intact Friday with an 85-65 Section Two victory over visiting Garden Spot.
