Mounts fall in opener

Exeter Eagle senior quarterback Kyle Yocum (4-4 72 yards 3 TD) accounted for five touchdowns and Exeter's defense held Ephrata to just 78 total yards to rout Ephrata 42-0 [boxscore] in a non-league victory at Don Thomas Stadium Friday. Scott Liebl picked up 64 of those 78 yards on the ground for the Mounts, carrying the ball 15 times.

A break from Normality

ImageI don't usually write editorials, or political missives. Not in this space anyway. I'm letting you know now though that what falls beyond the "read more" link reeks of editorialism, and politicalness, both of which are not words. Now really ... how can you keep from clicking?

Mounts Photo Pool Created

ImageYou don't have to be very observant to notice the recently added photos on the right side of the website. I recently created a photo pool on the popular flickr website. Anyone can join flickr for free, but if you upload a considerable amount of photos, you may want to pay a nominal $24.95 yearly fee, which will allow you to upload 2GBs (that's a lot) of photos per month.

The pool that I created is titled Ephrata Mounts Sports Photos, and can be found by searching for "Ephrata Mounts" in the group section at www.flickr.com . You can also go to the pool by clicking on the "what is this?" on the bottom of the small images at the right or by clicking here .

If you, or a parent, or anyone takes pictures at a recent sporting event, you can simply upload them and add them to the pool that I've created, and they will be mirrored here. At times I'll pull an image to go with a story, and I'll be sure to give proper credit to whoever took the photo.

This photo pool can be as large as we want, but please keep the photos relating to Ephrata Mounts sports and the student body.

Andy Babin has been kind enough to upload some great shots of the Ephrata Boys' Soccer team, and hopefully we'll have more contributors as well.

If anyone needs more info on adding pictures, please contact me using the contact tab at the left or at the top of the screen.

Let's keep the shutters flying and keep on cheering for the Mounts!

Dodgeball Moving to the Fall

ImageI don't have my official documents back from the District Office yet, but I've been assured that the date for the third annual Dodgeball Tournament is secured. We've moved to the Fall to kickoff the Basketball Season. It's a time of the year that we originally tried to get, but were unsuccessful due to scheduled events at the Middle School.

So I can safely tell you that we will be at the Senior High School again, and that the "near-set-in-stone" date of the tournament will be November 10th, 11th and 12th. The Sunday the 12th date will be reserved for the Adult Tournament. Mark your calendars now for the quiet week between Football and Basketball season. Don't worry, when the Football team makes the playoffs ... we'll figure something out for that!

Over $8000 was raised for Juvenile Diabetes last year, and I'm hoping we can push over the $10,000 mark this year. I'd like some input from you as players though ... what prizes do you really want? We want to make the reward worth the effort. I've set up a post in the forum, and I'll consider any realistic wishes. As of now, I'm sticking with the prizes we offered last year (JDRF bands, beanies, shirts) and I'm hoping to find a senior (the one and only Babin perhaps?) that would like a fun senior project and give tournament DVDs out to the top Middle School and High School team fundraisers. We'll try and have something fun for the overall top fundraising team as well.
