Mounts pad lead in Section Two


The final two weeks of the L-L League boys' soccer season could not have gotten off to a better start for Ephrata.
 
Holding a three-point lead over Manheim Central in Section Two, the Mountaineers earned a 2-0 victory over the visiting Barons Monday night.

Pioneers run past Mounts


Lampeter-Strasburg dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, opening up gaping holes on offense, and stifling host Ephrata's running game Friday night en route to a 31-6 [box score] victory.
 
"With so many upperclassmen at the skill positions, our seniors have been a calming influence up front," Lampeter-Strasburg head coach John Manion said.

Esterbrook Claims League Crown


Megan Esterbrook was pretty sure she was playing for third.
 
In the end, it turned out to be a golden afternoon for her.
 
Equipped with a solid putting stroke and a patience that buoyed her through the round, Esterbrook, a senior from Ephrata, posted 83 to capture the girls' title by three shots over teammate Lacey Bensing.
