Black Knights eliminate Mounts from LLs


In league playoffs, when the stakes are high, decisions made by referees are often under a microscope. This was the case Saturday during the Lancaster-Lebanon League field hockey quarterfinals at Penn Manor when both games saw contested calls that had the potential to determine the outcome of the game.
 
When the dust settled, Donegal downed Cocalico 4-1 and Hempfield topped Ephrata 3-0.

Bears convert turnovers to top Mounts


How many times has it been said that turnovers lose football games?
 
The answer Friday night in Ephrata was six, as that's how many times the Mounts turned the ball over to the Elizabethtown Bears en route to a 35-0 [box score] shutout by the visitors.

As a traditional part of Senior Night at Cocalico, Lucas Diciano was introduced prior to Monday night's game with Ephrata while the PA announcer read a brief biography of the Eagles' goalie to the crowd.

Buckskins defeat Mounts


Surrendering a 13-point lead with less than four minutes to play and losing to Warwick was hard to take.
 
Losing to Elizabethtown with six seconds to play last week to remain winless on the season, well, that hit a raw nerve.
 
So, to say that Conestoga Valley's football team welcomed its 28-14 [box score] Homecoming victory over Ephrata Friday would not be overstating the relief.
