Elco raids Mounts


MYERSTOWN — Elco scored the first five times it touched the ball, building a 34-0 halftime lead en route to a 48-7 [boxscore] thrashing of winless Ephrata.

Elco (5-1 Section Three, 5-4 overall) scored 48 unanswered points before surrendering a fourth-quarter touchdown to the Mounts (0-6, 0-8).

Braves scalp Mounts


On the night that its school inducted the 2015 Hall of Fame class, the Pequea Valley defense posted a dominating performance in leading the Braves to a 42-14 [boxscore] victory over Ephrata.

Pequea Valley’s defense absolutely manhandled the Mountaineers at the line of scrimmage, darting into the offensive backfield on nearly every play.

LL Cross Country Championships


While one runner was out to prove that last year was an exception, another was ready to do the expected when the student-athletes converged for Tuesday's Lancaster-Lebanon League cross country championships.

Both accomplished those goals in style on the course at the Ephrata Middle School.

Tide Rolls to First Win


One streak ended and another continued Friday night at Ephrata’s War Memorial Field. In a battle of winless teams, Columbia used a powerful run game to turn back Ephrata, 44-13 [box score].

The win stopped a nine game losing streak for the Tide and was also the first win for rookie Columbia coach Anthony Sottasante.
