Ephrata Avenges Loss


When Ephrata roared out to an 11-1 lead Monday night in its Section Two match against Manheim Central, you had a good idea that avenging their earlier loss to the Barons was foremost in their minds.

The Mounts won the first two sets (25-14, 25-13), dropped the third (21-25) then regained the form that led them to the first two set wins, winning the fourth set, 25-18 and the match, 3-1.

Hempfield Handles Ephrata


Before battling Ephrata Friday in his first mound start this spring, Hempfield right-hander Andrew Corso acknowledged he battled some inner butterflies.

“It was nerve-wracking,” he said after going four solid innings and earning the win in a 9-4 final in sun-splashed Landisville. “Once I settled down I started throwing strikes.”

Manheim Central comes back to beat Ephrata


Nick Farlow's emphatic kill from the middle of the net that gave Ephrata a 2-1 lead in its Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Two match with Manheim Central and seemed to say that, yes, Ephrata was going to grab and hold the momentum

So, the Barons needed to win the fourth set to say alive in the match and they did so rather easily, which was surprising and yet not so surprising at the same time.

Cocalico downs upstart Ephrata


The Ephrata girls’ lacrosse team earlier this week earned its fifth win of the season, matching last year’s win total (5-13) in just the team’s sixth game this spring.

That was notable in its own right, but even more so when considering Mounts head coach Kirstin Schneider had previously said she only returned about half her starters and had other starters new to the sport this year.
